The SEAF and TSD-PI: Two Key Screening Tools in Your CAF Journey
The Canadian Armed Forces expects you to take ownership of your preparation — just like you would in a military training environment. There is no secret formula or shortcut. You are expected to research, train, and use your available resources, such as this Cognitive Results program, to prepare well and demonstrate your readiness.
1. The SEAF (Scored Employment Application Form)
The SEAF is one of the first tools used to assess your background. You’ll be asked about your education, work history, physical fitness, leadership experience, and overall preparedness for military service. Your answers are scored — and that score can determine whether you move forward in the process.
Although the SEAF form may only take 20–30 minutes to complete online, your responses reflect years of life experience. That’s why we provide in-depth guidance to help you frame your answers clearly, confidently, and in alignment with what recruiters look for.
2. The TSD-PI (Trait Self-Descriptive Personality Inventory)
This 75-item personality inventory helps recruiters evaluate whether your traits align with the demands of military life. It covers five core areas (Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Emotional Stability, Extraversion, and Openness to Experience), and your responses are assessed for both content and consistency.
Our program explains how each trait connects to real-world performance — and helps you reflect on your strengths while answering honestly and effectively.
3. Bonus: CFAT Preparation for Future Needs
While some CAF applicants are not asked to take the CFAT (Canadian Forces Aptitude Test), others — especially those applying for roles like Intelligence Operator or Aerospace occupations — will still need to complete it.
This program includes our core CFAT strategy and practice materials, so that if the aptitude test is required in your process, you're already prepared.
Why Preparation Matters
Just like basic training, your preparation for the SEAF and TSD-PI begins with mindset, clarity, and effort. The CAF is looking for applicants who take initiative, understand what’s expected, and can represent themselves with confidence. This program gives you the tools, structure, and feedback you need to meet those expectations and move forward.
